Choppers & Biker Build offs
according to Shawn

Now that motorcycles and the so-called "biker lifestyle" has been ruined by the mainstream media and
trailer park trash everywhere with their OCC shirts, we have something to look forward to: the over
saturation of Custom Chopper Shops.

Forget actually owning a motorcycle, learning how to work on them from years of breaking your own shit
and having to figure out on your own how to fix them. Forget knowing anything about bikes for that matter.
You too, now can start your own custom chopper shop. All you need is a cool name, like, Felony
Customs, for example and you're in business.

I've been inspired to write this for some time now, and my recent disgust for the dick riding wannabes
made me do it.  We recently took on 2 jobs here at the shop.  One was actually a paint job from this
fucking joke shop from our area,
Felony Customs.  Kris and I met the owners, checked out their shop, and
got a good look at what they have to offer the bike industry.  Which unsurprisingly, isn't shit.

After taking the grand tour of a facility like this, I have to reference the editorial written in
The Horse
magazine.  It's titled, "How To Start a Chopper Shop-For Dummies."  What most of the average idiots
heading into this venture don't realize is, you actually do have to have some sort of skill required to
assemble a motorcycle. Fuck, I paint them for a living.  I have no desire whatsoever to deal with the
fucking headache of assembly, let alone anything to do with motor work.

People watching these shows need to realize that it is
actually work. So if you're sitting behind your desk
at work surfing our site and reading this, I hope the thought of actually opening your own custom shop
hasn't entered your head.

What they also don't realize is that when it comes to the paint work.  When
Billy Lane drops off his frame
and bodywork at his painter, you guys get to watch the painter make that bike a priority and get it done in
2 or 3 days.  That's bullshit and you know it.  When that painter makes that bike a priority, it makes all the
regular customers, like you, the people reading this, get their shit pushed aside, and put further behind.
So when you wonder why your shit is taking 2 or 3 weeks to get done, don't start referencing Billy's
painter, and how he managed to get that bike done in 3 days, when your tank and plastics have taken 2
weeks.  Not to mention that most of those jobs cost upwards of at least $5000, so don't even get me
started about you cheap fuckers out there bitching for a $800 one color job.

So to get back on topic: It takes skill and experience to work on motorcycles.  It takes a lot more to build
them for a living.

Fuckit, I'm done bitching for now.
